Swati Maliwal's Cryptic Mahabharata Reference Following Supreme Court Bail for Alleged Assailant
AAP Leader Posts Draupadi's Disrobing Scene After Bibhav Kumar's Bail
A day after the Supreme Court granted bail to Bibhav Kumar, the man accused of assaulting her, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Swati Maliwal took to social media with a cryptic post. On Tuesday, Maliwal shared an image depicting the attempted disrobing of Draupadi by Dushasana from the Hindu epic Mahabharata. This reference appears to be a symbolic reaction to the recent legal development.
In the Mahabharata, Dushasana's act of attempting to disrobe Draupadi is a significant and humiliating event that follows the loss of a dice game by the Pandavas, Draupadi’s husbands, to their cousins, the Kauravas. Dushasana, along with his 99 brothers, were part of the Kaurava clan.
Assault Allegations and Legal Developments
Swati Maliwal, who is a Rajya Sabha member from AAP and a former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), accused Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her on May 13. Kumar, an ex-secretary to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, allegedly assaulted Maliwal at Kejriwal's Civil Lines residence. Kumar was subsequently arrested by the Delhi Police at Kejriwal's home.
In the Supreme Court's bail order, Kumar was prohibited from entering the Chief Minister's residence and is barred from making any comments about the case until all key witnesses have been examined. This measure aims to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Serious Allegations Against Kumar
In her First Information Report (FIR), Maliwal accused Kumar of severe misconduct, including 'outraging my modesty, slapping and kicking me, and threatening me.' She detailed that Kumar slapped her multiple times, assaulted her physically, and attempted to pull up her shirt without provocation.
As the legal proceedings continue, Maliwal's symbolic reference to the Mahabharata highlights the gravity of her allegations and her sense of being wronged.
